On Monday night we have a two hour prayer meeting. During this prayer meeting we pray for revival and awakening in Alamance County. That people who know Jesus would fall more in love and people who do not know Jesus would accept Him!

At the end of the prayer meeting one of our interns read a passage of scripture. Romans 12:9-21. The very last verse says this: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Many times I wonder can I even overcome the evil that I see in my heart and desires? But it is possible!!! We can overcome evil by CHOOSING the RIGHT thing. Choosing what is good.

BUT the problem now becomes: Do I love what is good enough to choose it? Many times I DON’T! Which is why evil overcomes me!

Ps. 45:7 says, “You (Jesus) have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of joy above Your fellows.”

So many times with Christians we wonder why we aren’t filled with joy. Aren’t we supposed to be the most happy people??? YES WE ARE!

I was watching a video of Mike Bickle and Misty Edwards months ago, maybe even a year ago. Misty said something that has stuck in my mind ever since and that the Lord reminded me of on Monday night. Jesus was anointed with the oil of joy above His fellows BECAUSE He completely LOVES righteousness and HATES wickedness. But WE have something in us that still loves wickedness!!!

I see this so EVIDENT in my heart! I do not always overcome evil with good, because I don’t love the good thing enough, and there is love in my heart for the evil!!

So my prayer and pursuit is to LOVE righteousness and what is good, and ABHOR evil and wickedness as Jesus does!

I want to be violent in my pursuit to LOVE what Jesus loves and HATE what Jesus hates!!

Do you see it in your own life? The places where we still love wickedness? Oh to be anointed with the oil of joy!!! Oh to hate evil with every part of our beings!

Do it in us, God! Cleanse us and purify us of all the places where we still LOVE what You HATE! And make us a JOYFUL people like YOU are Jesus!

I love you. Simply. Complexly. But Lord, words seem so fake. Words seem so easy to say but hard to do. I write, endlessly, of my love and devotion to You. For 5 years now. But then I can still do the exact opposite that I write. How can this be? Why can’t I live the standard, consistently, that I so desire to? I know it is possible. but why did I fail? Why did I give in, when my greatest desire is to be HOLY AS YOU ARE HOLY? When I say I love You, I mean it. But didn’t You say, “If you love Me, obey My commandments.”? So wouldn’t my lack of obedience, therefore, proclaim “I DON’T LOVE YOU!”? How can it be then, that You say, “Return to Me.”? I have forsaken You, the fountain of living waters! To hew for myself broken cisterns that hold NO WATER! It would seem to me that I should run in shame from the Holy One. That I should do time away from You until I am “good” again. Or if I do approach You, shouldn’t it be that I should do what I can to make up? Wouldn’t that be what You want from me? More prayers, more scriptures memorized, more songs of worship sung? Because You probably can’t stand me, You’ve seen the darkness in me. Let me try to cover up, Lord! You didn’t know I was like this, did You? When You let me enter Your kingdom, I’m sure You were expecting perfection. I know, I’ve shattered all Your thoughts of me, right? You can’t really love me knowing all You know about me. How can You love me when my heart has betrayed You? When I’ve broken the promises I vowed never to break? O Lord, how could You really love one such as me?

God will have His way.

And I will continue to pray no matter who is in office.

A man will not change anything.

God will.

CHURCH, we cannot stop praying no matter who comes into office tomorrow.

Press in for God to break-in to American and that He would pour out His mercy.

That people’s hearts would be changed, not just that things in government will change. Because things can change there and it won’t make any difference at all if we are still the same people. Our hearts have to be moved into righteousness, its the inside of the glass not just the outside!

We need RIGHTEOUSNESS and JUSTICE to REIGN in this country!

Have your way GOD!!!!

Your KINGDOM come,

Your WILL be done,

on earth as it is in heaven!!!!

David Gordon, the director of IHOP-AC, proclaimed a solemn assembly Sunday, Oct. 26th. Taken from Joel 2:15-16.

We are entering into a 10 day solemn assembly and time of fasting. We are fasting food and our time. We are having intercession sets from 6am-8am every morning for the 10 days, from Oct. 26th until Nov. 5th.

We are praying for Joel 2:12 changes. That we, and American would return to the Lord with all our hearts! And while America is crying out for change. We are crying out for mercy! God is the only one who can change anything in America. So we better start asking Him to do it. And that is going to take MERCY!

We are also praying for the elections. It isn’t just about 1 day, and a voting booth and one man. It’s about prayer and asking God to take control of our nation.

We are praying for righteousness and justice to be the foundation of America. America is so busy worrying about the economy and all of these different issues, when really, if we just let God have control, He says He would provide. And we aren’t worried about the issues that really matter. Like that we are murdering innocent children every day.

Actually 50 million since 1973.

Or like the sanctity of marriage. That God created it for a man and a woman. Nothing else.

These are issues of the heart. And we don’t want to deal with them. So we deal with the outer issues that we think we can change and make better. Like the economy. We think we are in control. But we can’t.

Oh God! Have mercy on this nation! We call ourselves a “Christian” nation, yet we stand for wickedness and injustice! This isn’t who you are! You are a righteous and just God! Change our hearts to be in alignment with Your heart! We need You God! Break in, send a spirit of wisdom and revelation into the knowledge of Jesus to America! We have to know You, so that we will be like You! Come God! Have mercy and make us a nation of righteousness and justice! In Jesus Name!

It is the will of the Lord to end abortion. Abortion is the shedding of innocent blood, and it is LEGAL in our country. This is an injustice. The foundations of God’s throne are righteousness and justice (Ps. 89:14). For it to be God’s will for legal shedding of innocent blood, then that would go against the foundations of His throne! And Jesus said to pray in Matt. 6 “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” For His kingdom to be on earth, which is what He desires, there cannot be an injustice! This would never be His will!

In order for righteousness and justice to reign injustices will end! And so abortion will be ended and it is the will of the Lord!

So lets contend with the heart of the Father!

Jesus, I plead Your blood over my sins and the sins of my nation. God, end ABORTION and send REVIVAL to America! Amen!

Just the past two years have I really started reading my bible, for real. Not just reading through my bible in a year, but actually reading it and asking the Lord to give me understanding of what He is trying to say. I started to study Matthew, and I found that the book of Matt. contains the essentials for Christianity, and yet I had never heard most of these taught. The values of the kingdom of God are laid out in this book and yet I def. wasn’t living them, not because I didn’t want to, but because I didn’t know they were there. So began my journey to live a Sermon on the Mount lifestyle. And the Lord is challenging me, daily, to live according to His kingdom and not according to the kingdom of this world. I can tell you that this is the biggest struggle of my life. To live in this world, hear and see all that they teach and to not live according to it.

So how then shall we live?

Jesus clearly lays out the way of His kingdom in the Sermon on the Mount, Matt. 5, 6 & 7.

As I continue to study the Sermon on the Mount, I am burdened that this lifestyle is, as my director would say, Christianity 101 not Christianity 401. But most of these values laid out in these chapters are thought of as “radical” Christianity, not “normal” Christianity. But these are the values that came out of the very lips of the man we say we follow. Jesus Christ. Here are the core values:

1. Spiritual Poverty (Matt. 5:3)- understanding the absence of God in our lives, and the presence of sin. We are nothing, God is everything and yet HE LOVES US! This will lead to the kingdom of heaven.

2. Mourning (Matt. 5:4)- when we realize the absence of God in our lives, and the presence of sin we will move into mourning. We will mourn for the PRESENCE of God and the ABSENCE of sin. We also need to be mourning now for Jesus to come back, John 16:16-24. Those who mourn will be comforted.

3. Meekness (Matt. 5:5)- walking in humility in all that we do. Dying to ourselves, taking up our cross daily to follow Christ. Spiritual poverty and mourning both lead to meekness, because doing these two things causes us to be weak. To rely on Christ and not on our own strength. When we realize we are nothing and God is everything and we believe this and live according to this we will be humble. The meek will inherit the earth.

4. Hunger and thirst for righteousness (Matt. 5:6)- when you begin to live a life of spiritual poverty and realize the presence of sin in your life, and the HOLINESS of God you will want to be holy as He is holy. To be like Jesus. Jesus is righteousness! We need to HUNGER AND THIRST for righteousness. Not just say it, or pray it but to LIVE IT! For those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be satisfied.

5. Merciful (Matt. 5:7)- to have mercy on those around us. For those that are merciful will receive mercy.

6. Pure in heart (Matt. 5:8)- to have a pure and clean heart. With no wrong motives, knowing what is on the heart of the Father and living it. For those that are pure in heart will see God.

7. Peacemakers (Matt. 5:9)- in all that you do to promote peace. No conflict with people, but to go out of your way to make peace. To humble ourselves, even if we are right, to make peace with a person. Matt. 5:43-48 talks about loving your enemies. This is the best way to make peace. Both of these passages say if you make peace and love your enemies you will be sons of God.

The next two verse of the beatitudes talk about persecution. If you live according to these values, according to the Kingdom of God you will be persecuted. Matt. 5:10,11 say that if you are persecuted yours is the kingdom of heaven. WOW! We will have the kingdom of heaven if we are persecuted. Blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness! This is incredible. And yes, God will use the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. If we live this lifestyle that we are meant, we will do that very thing.
