prayer room that we are currently in! It is also an art gallery! Look at all those awesome paintings!! David Rickman’s grandfather painted ALL of these!

Tonight as I sit in the prayer room I’ve been thinking about choices.

God has given us the ability to choose.

To choose Him or something else.

To choose the things of His kingdom or to choose the things of the world.

Every moment, of every day, we make choices.

There are many times when I don’t choose Him or His ways.

Today I prayed: “Lord, I wish I didn’t have a freewill! I wish you would force me to choose You!” This prayed as I was battling with my own desires.

But oh it moves my heart when I voluntarily choose Him over other things.

Oh how it ravishes His heart when I voluntarily choose Him over lesser pleasures.

Do you know the passage where Jesus says “but only one thing is necessary, for she has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”?

What did she choose?

Mary of Bethany chose to sit at Jesus’ feet and listen to His word. (Luke 10:38-42)

She chose God over everything else. And Jesus said it will not be taken away. And that she had chosen the one thing necesary.

God is the one thing necesary that we need to chose. Over every other choice we will ever make. We need to choose God.

Have you chosen God? Have you made the decision to live for Him? Or to continue to chose Him every day?

Remember: It is the ONE THING NECESSARY above every other thing.

Read part 1 here before you read part 2.

Again, I just love the passage in Luke 10 that records the First commandment. We have Luke 10:27-37, the conversation between Jesus and the lawyer on the First commandment.

Right after that, (and it is in chronological order) Jesus goes to the home of Mary of Bethany.

Luk 10:38  Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home.
Luk 10:39  She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word.
Luk 10:40  But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.”
Luk 10:41  But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things;
Luk 10:42  but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

This is one of the most incredible passages in scripture. Mary of Bethany is my favorite person recorded in scripture. Here we see two pictures. One of a woman who is giving herself to what looks like nothing. She is just sitting at Jesus’ feet and listening to His word. But Martha, oh how Martha is serving and doing what she can for her guests. That looks really good on the outside.

And Martha gets a little offended that her sister isn’t helping her. So she addresses Jesus. “Tell my sister to help me!”

But what does Jesus say? Read very closely. Don’t lose what Jesus says. This is HUGE!

HE says “Martha, you are so worried about so many things! (He rebukes her, not Mary) but Mary has chosen the onething necessary and it will NOT be taken away from her (He defends Mary).”

What? This is crazy! This is opposite of our thinking! You’d think He would tell Mary to get up and help Martha out. But oh no, this is the most valuable thing we could be doing. Sitting at the feet of Jesus. This is what Mary chose to do. And this is the onething necessary.

I believe that this is the greatest picture of what Jesus was discussing earlier in the passage about the first commandment.

If He tells us the First and Foremost thing is to love Him and then He tells us there is only ONE THING necessary, they can’t be two different things. They have to be connected.

So the greatest way to live the First commandment is to sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to His words. To gaze on His beauty (Ps. 27:4) and to live in His presence.

This is how we let Him do it in us. We spend time with Him so that He can do it. When we gaze on Him we will become more like Him (2 Cor. 3:18). This is the way to loving HIm with EVERYTHING!

Are you giving yourself to spending time with the One you say you love? This is the ONLY place where we will become who He wants us to be. This is the ONLY place where we can live out Christianity. Or it will be just religion and duty. And that is not what Jesus died for.

He is calling everyone of His followers to do this. This is what He longs for! An intimate relationship with you! There is no other way! He loves you and desires to be loved back by you! But just as Mary had to chose to do it, so do we. We have to make the choice that we are going to sit at His feet, listen to His word and fall in love with Him!

There is a tradition here at The Watch, every internship the night watch staff listens to the interns testimonies and  as the Lord moves speak His heart to them. And then at the end, they all decide on a name that fits with what the Lord was speaking. A Prophetic name, and then we get the name written on a night watch hoodie. So tonight they decided on Juliette for me. The reason…one of my prophetic words was that I was like Juliet (Romeo and Juliet), with unabandoned love, a romance with the Beloved. Also others words that I received were about being colorful and energetic. Juliette (they decided not to spell it after Shakespeare:) means divinely youthful. So this is my name. I really love it. I always thought my name would be Anna, but I love the reckless romance (thats it!) like Mary of Bethany which moves me into the intercession as Anna. So this name has a lot of meanings for me, and its my new name from the Lord! I just might name one of my children that…one day…:)

Today was an AWESOME day in the prayer room! I am not a singer but for an entire hour I was able to sing in the prayer room on the stage and SING to HIM! It was so amazing! I just poured out my heart in song and prayer. Just being able to MINISTER to HIM was so freeing! I was so full of the Holy Spirit! I was speaking truth, and it was destroying lies! I was able to abide in His love (John 15:9).  I can’t even explain it.

Misty Edwards has a song that is so amazing and describes how I feel. It says “I will take my passion and put it in a bottle just to break it at Your feet! I will take my affections and put them in a bottle just to waste them at Your feet!” Like Mary of Bethany in Luke 10:42. She wasted everything at His feet. And He said that it was the ONE THING necessary and He would not take it away from her! Wow! He is saying WASTE YOUR LIFE ON ME! He is so worth it!

Don’t you see, Beloved, the Father said “Ask and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance!” (Psalm 2:8) In John 17:24, Jesus ASKED! He said “Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given me, be with Me where I am, so that hey may see My glory which You have given me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” He is asking for His inheritance! He wants us to be with Him where He is. I want to come into the fullness of all that Jesus asked for. I will waste my life on Him! He deserves it! His delight is in His inheritance! Oh my goodness! That we would understand His love for us! We would live our lives completely different! I know I will never be the same. I cannot live life normally. I have to give everything to this Man. My heart is stolen! He has captured it! I am His only! Forever! My heart is a locked garden! No one else can have it! There will be no other lovers, for I have come to understand that try as I may to chase other lovers, I find there is no other but Jesus Christ. I am undone, forever lost in His love. I will do whatever it takes to love Him and live out His will for my life! There is nothing else I can do, and no where else I can go. He has the words of ETERNAL LIFE. He is the only way, truth and life. This Man who willingly drank the cup of death, so that we could have life. Jesus IS the Son of God. Who else but God would do something that is such a wonderful mystery?

I could go on forever, but you would stop reading the post. I think you get the point. Jesus Christ is the most amazing person in the whole world and I give my life to Him!
