There is an amazing song out by Justin Rizzo, from IHOP-KC. It is called Indwelling Spirit.
Here are the some of the lyrics:
Indwelling Spirit, I am not alone.
Indwelling Spirit, I am not my own.
Through fellowship, I long to see.
The abundant riches of this mystery
Within me.
You have not left me here alone.
What you’ve done, what you’ve done is given me the daily need to choose you.
Its life or death.
Sowing to the Spirit or sowing to the flesh.
Your Spirit within me, abundant riches of glory within me
strengthing me from the inside out.
Come and strengthen us in righteousness.
Come and strengthen us with Christ within.
Come, conform me.
Come, transform me.
Into the image of You.
I want to sow to the Spirit.
That I would reap from the Spirit.
Everlasting Life.
Am I sowing to the Spirit or sowing to the flesh?
I’m doing one or the other all the time.
This part of the song, “Am I sowing to the Spirit or sowing to the flesh, I’m doing one or the other all the time” has stirred my spirit to desire the things of the Spirit!
Oh that we, as the body of Christ, would realize that we are either sowing to the Spirit or sowing to the flesh! There aren’t times when you aren’t doing either. But many of us live this way!
So you want to watch your favorite movie. What does it hurt? No, its not filling me with the knowledge of God, but its fun and its ok to have fun. So if its not sowing into the Spirit, what is it doing? Sowing into the flesh.
This is reality. But many of us are not living in this type of reality.
My prayer is that God would give us revelation of walking according to the Spirit! Christianity, that most of us claim, is supposed to make us look different from the world. We are not supposed to fit in!
So how do we know that these two are set against each other, and if you aren’t doing one, you are doing the other? Romans 8:6 says “For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,” Is there anything else but life and death? No, there is either life or there is either death.
And when you walk according to the Spirit, the flesh has to die. If you aren’t walking according to the Spirit, your flesh will continue to live. Galations 5:16-17 “But I say, walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.”
When you sow into something, there will always be a harvest to reap. But what we sow into will determine what we reap. We have to sow into the Spirit if we wish to reap the things of the Spirit. Many of us are wondering why we are living the godly life that we desire. Why can’t I love Jesus? Why doesn’t the Word make sense? Why is it hard to love people?
Maybe we need to take a look at all we are sowing into. Take a look at all the things you are giving yourself to. Is it the things of the Spirit? Do you see the fruits of the Spirit in your life? My question to you:
Are you sowing to the Spirit or sowing to the flesh?
Because you are doing one or the other all the time.
My prayer is that we would all sow into the Spirit and reap from the Spirit. Do it in Your Bride God!
